Director, OSF HeathCare Innovation Design Lab Clinical Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine, University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria Clinical Associate Professor, Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Clinical Assistant Professor, Biomedical Visualization, University of Illinois Chicago Scott Barrows was previously vice-president of strategic development at a biotechnology laboratory in Virginia, and vice-president of creative at a medical software company in Nevada. Barrows is the former director of the BVIS grad program at UIC and was also an honors graduate of the program. His graduate degree is in educational leadership from the University of Illinois Springfield. He was an assistant professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Barrows has been the recipient of numerous awards, including recognition from two U.S. Presidents, the Smithsonian Institution, and the University of Illinois. He and his wife Jo enjoy their children, grandchildren, and dog Buehrle, as well as visiting historical sites. He volunteers his time to several patient-centered and homeless shelters as well as animal welfare organizations.

Trisha is a 2007 graduate of the UIC BVIS program and the co-founder and first president of the Student Association of Medical Artists (SAMA). She is the Director of Operations at 21GRAMS Rad Science (formerly known as Radius Digital Science). After graduating from UIC, Trisha was a demonstrative evidence consultant with MediVisuals in Richmond, VA for four years. She joined the Rad Science team in 2011 as a product specialist and later transitioned into project management of animations, apps, websites, and convention booths. Now as the Director of Operations, Trisha oversees process development, project/resource management, and team development.

Sam Bond is a certified medical illustrator and award-winning serious game developer. Currently in the process of earning her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences, Sam has been faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago Biomedical Visualization program since 2016. In the BVIS program, Sam teaches courses on interactive app creation, serious game design, and mixed reality development.

Tara has over 16 years’ experience in a digital agency environment, with a focus in healthcare. Over the course of her career, she has held positions on both account and creative teams; and has contributed to digital strategy, content strategy, and creative development. Tara is a solutions-oriented team player and has a proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams in developing a range of digital tactics from traditional (websites, banner ads, emails, e-details, 3D animation and video) to more complex immersive engagements (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, 4D animation, Gaming, Multi-touch interactives). She has a passion for creating impactful experiences. Throughout her career, Tara has gained experience developing and producing digital marketing tactics and has worked closely with clients and internal teams to develop the right solution and digital media strategies for multiple brands. Tara earned her Master of Science degree in Biomedical Visualization from the University of Illinois at Chicago, one of the 4 accredited schools in the country in her field. Prior to receiving her master’s degree, Tara earned a BA in Biology at New York University.
